PARAWHAT

PARA-Project is an office for architectural strategies. We see each project as a collaborative effort between a wide range of constituents, guided by the specific needs and curiosities of diverse clientele. PARA works on projects of varying scales and media: from commercial, institutional, and residential work, to events and international competitions.

PARA operates as a prefix (PARAlegal, PARAmilitary, PARAthesis, etc), assuming the cultural content of a given project as the operative element in each venture. We balance a critical distance with willful indulgence believing that architecture has the capacity to both challenge and exacerbate established values.

PARA is committed to expanding architecture’s audience. We believe that architectural knowledge has multiple venues for addressing the public. We began our partnership with a conference: Loopholes convened at Harvard in 2005 to debate new models for architectural practice. In 2007 PARA was winner of the Young Architects Forum by the Architectural League of New York and in 2009 PARA was a finalist in the Young Architects Program by MoMA/PS1.
